School Year 2025 - 26

Non-Traditional Instruction Day

As of Thursday, January 29, JCS has used all of our accrued snow days. These days are available because additional minutes are added each day, accruing throughout the year to ensure students reach 180 instructional days. The district will begin using its five Non-Traditional Instructional Days (NTIDs). On these days, students will complete learning activities from home rather than attend school in person.

What this means for families:

• Grades PreK-2: Students will complete activities from a choice board provided by their teacher, via Rooms or email.
• Grades 3-12: Students will access daily assignments through Canvas.
• Teacher support will be available in Canvas (via Teams link) from 9:15 am through 12:00 pm. Teachers will do a final message check from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm to answer any student questions.
• Jefferson Virtual Academy (JVA):  Students will continue instruction as usual.

If the district exceeds its five designated snow days and five designated NTIDs, then makeup days may be added to the calendar. Any need for make up days will be announced at a later date.

All students are counted present on non-traditional instruction days.

 Family & Community Resources

  NTID TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANCE

The JCS Technology team is available to help connect JCS-issued Chromebooks to your home wireless internet or hotspot. Teachers will ask students to bring home their Chromebooks this weekend. Please ensure your student's Chromebook is charged and test its connection to your home internet.

Need internet access? Each school has a limited number of hotspots available for families who do not have access to the internet at home. If you need one of these hotspots, please contact your school. Hotspots are available as needed and on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Parents/Guardians can call the JCS Technology Department for assistance at 304-582-4494. This number is only available on non-traditional instruction days and for parent/guardian use only.

  COMMUNITY RESOURCES AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

JCS is committed to supporting a strong and resilient community, especially during weather-related emergencies. Our Department of Social and Emotional Support (SoMo) works with many local agencies and partners to assist JCS students and families. The SoMo resource page can help families quickly find the support they need. This JCS Community Resource Guide also highlights community services available to Jefferson County families, including crisis support, health services, basic needs, and more.
