Employees of the Year

Our Cafeteria Manager, Mrs. Valerie Gallahan was chosen as our service person of the year. She has worked at Wright Denny for eight years and has 28 eight years of service within the Jefferson County Schools system.  Mrs. Gallahan really enjoys interacting with the students on a daily basis. She says that is the most enjoyable part of the job.

Fourth-Grade teacher, Mrs. Christina Slagle was voted as our teacher of the year. She has worked in our county for 17 and a half years. She has been with Wright Denny for almost two years now. Mrs. Slagle says, “My favorite part of teaching is that moment when something just clicks for a student and they light up from the inside out. It's those sparks of understanding that make all the planning, patience, and effort feel undeniably worth it. Watching students gain confidence in themselves reminds me why this work matters so deeply.”

Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday, February 23, 2026.

Read-A-Thons will actually get your reader excited about reading, and it allows friends and family to encourage your child to read even more.

We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/IebTXY/1?utm=email and following the simple instructions.

We've chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read, and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.

We hope EVERYONE participates.

Thanks so much,

Wright Denny Intermediate School
