Canned Food Drive

Wright Denny's holiday canned food drive is right around the Corner. The WDIS canned food drive is sponsored by our Student Government and led by Mrs. Morgan. The food drive will start from December 1st to December 12th. All proceeds benefit Crosspoint's Helping Hands in Kearneysville, WV, outreach. Students from every homeroom are encouraged to bring any amount of canned food to their homeroom teachers in December. As a reward for their contributions, students will be treated to a movie before Winter Break. Crosspoint’s Helping Hands hosts a local food outreach event monthly for the community. We hope to make the Holidays a little easier for all community members.

Classroom Feature: Mrs. Madrid's Music Programs

At Wright Denny, December is a music-filled month managed by Mrs Madrid, Jefferson County's 2024 Teacher of the Year. The 3rd-grade students rehearse in music class for their musical. This year’s performance is entitled Snow Biz. The third-grade students will have two performances. A performance will be planned during school hours for the entire student body, and another for families held on December 3, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the Wright Denny Auditorium.

Mrs Madrid has the 5th and 4th-grade chorus practice once a week, as well as her after-school Orff Ensemble. An Orff Ensemble is a musical group that has a specific set of instruments, including pitched percussion like xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels, and unpitched percussion such as drums, tambourines, and shakers. The ensemble is named after Carl Orff and his approach to music education.  The 4th & 5th Grade Chorus & Orff ensemble Winter Concert is Dec 17th from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM in the Wright Denny Auditorium.

In addition to school performances, Mrs Madrid supports conducting community performances. The Wright Denny Chorus has been asked to perform in Ranson’s Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, November 29th, at 6:30. The Tree Lighting Ceremony is from 6-8 PM. Please join us in this festive occasion.
